Abstract
The church will not recover its "power base" until it first recovers its mythic consciousness, i.e., those stories (permanent myths) by which alone she can reconnect with the Divine consciousness, reestablish her roots,, order her experience and most importantly, begin to once again contribute to society what she alone is capable of contributing, namely: a witness to the God who comes in Jesus Christ to redeem the people from their sins.
